A study on the affect of word of mouth processes on open source applications
Our research purpose is to investigate the word of mouth processes affecting the adoption of a open source application; open source applications are special type innovations, presenting low risk in adoption and refer to a certain market potential (usually "techies"), thus we might find different processes affecting their adoption.
In particular, we would like to investigate how negative word of mouth, rankings, etc. result in resistance to adoption, we would like to measure the resistance as much as we can and estimate it. In order to investigate it we need data of daily adoption, daily hits, and daily rankings from several projects.
