Technical and Social Architecture Factors and Their Impact on Project Success

This study builds on knowledge from disparate research communities: design theory, software engineering, task complexity and network theory. One of the objectives is to understand how the architecture of the software product and software developers collaborative network relates to the project goal or performance. The research question is: what technical architecture factors in terms of the artifact (i.e., software codebase) and social architecture factors in terms of people (i.e., developer collaboration network) have impacts on the project success (e.g., frequency of downloads, time-to-relaease etc.)?
