Project Abstract

In the study economical aspects of Free / Open Source Software applications in commercial environment have been examined including main differences of commercial software development projects versus FOSS. Courtesy of Computer Science & Engineering department of University of Notre Dame statistical data from sourceforge.net projects have been analysed to show advantages and features of FOSS development. Empirical study also supports possible business models and strategies based on FOSS usage.
